ROLE OF SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKERS IN THE IDENTIFICATION OF ROADBLOCKS IN CAREER SELECTION AMONG YOUTH IN MINORITY SCHOOL.
Abstract
Crumb Social workers are an integral link between school, home, and community in helping students achieve academic success. The network directly with school administration as well as students and families. The students are affected by socio-economic conditions and the lack of support from parents in pursuing education. The school administration and the school environment also have implications on their academic performance and career. The school social worker had work in the Anglo-Arabic Senior Secondary School where the school social worker has interacted with 6thto 12thclasses students. The Anglo-Arabic school was established almost 370 years ago and has been providing education to Muslim minority children. In this setting, a school social worker has come across the issue of career guidance among school children. This paper is an attempt to discuss the career guidance needs of the students and how this issue was identified by the school social worker. The present paper social worker can discuss and suggest how to make the career guidance effective, keeping in view the observations and analysis of the issue through interactions with students. The paper can discuss the role of school social worker in the school setting in the context of Anglo Arabic senior secondary school. The main focus and area of discussion will cover the career selection and challenges in pursuing education.
