Abstract

Periodontal disease involves complex interplay between the pathogens and the host. Probiotic therapy, being natural with no adverse-effects,
carries great potential in improving the clinical signs of periodontal disease by reducing the bacterial load and modulating host immune response.
Here an approach has been made to highlight the efficacy of probiotics for treating periodontal disease based on the existing status of knowledge.
